31-Year-Old Man Invited 89-Year-Old Neighbor To Live With Him To Spend Her Last Days In Company

One of the most heartwarming and absolutely unique stories from this time of year happened a few years ago. An unlikely duo became best friends when a neighbor and a stranger showed the world the size of their hearts.

Chris Salvatore was 31 when he moved to a city where he didn’t know anyone else. Being the friendly neighbor that he was, he introduced himself to the elderly woman who lived next door. Norma Cook was 89-years-old at the time and lived alone with her cat, Hermes. Eventually, Chris invited Norma to move in with him, as she needed constant care.

“She couldn’t be happier that I asked. I was over there visiting most days anyway. The only other option was for her to go into a facility. I just couldn’t do that to someone who is like my own grandmother.” Today

A few years later, when Norma was 89, her health took a turn for the worse and Chris stepped in to offer his assistance and care. Suffering from multiple health complications, as well as leukemia meant her medical expenses were starting to pile up as well. So, Christ set up a GoFundMe for Norma and the donations started pouring in.
