The context: an ever-increasing cost of living
Year after year, the French see their purchasing power diminish. Gasoline, rent, groceries, electricity bills… everything is going up, except wages, which are only increasing timidly. As a result, the middle class, long considered the economic backbone of the country, finds itself caught in a vice—too well-off to qualify for assistance, but not quite enough to live comfortably.
