A couple was shot in Portland after an incident in which they allegedly attempted to hit a federal agent with their vehicle

Agents were reportedly attempting to carry out an arrest as part of an immigration enforcement action when the situation escalated. Local reporting indicated that the couple’s truck “lunged toward” CBP agents, a claim that federal officials say prompted agents to discharge their weapons out of concern for officer safety. Portland police responded to the scene and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims reportedly fled before officers arrived, driving to a relative’s home where they later sought medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that both individuals were alive as of Thursday evening, though the severity of their injuries was not publicly disclosed.

Portland Police Chief Bob Day addressed the incident with a call for restraint, acknowledging heightened emotions in the community. Referencing the recent fatal shooting in Minneapolis, Day urged residents to remain calm while investigators worked to establish the facts.
