Days later, Eli showed Margaret the life he had built. In a small hangar sat a bright yellow plane belonging to a nonprofit he founded, flying children from remote towns to receive the care they needed. It was his way of passing forward what he had been given.
He handed Margaret a worn photograph of her younger self with a note on the back: For the teacher who believed I could fly. Tears came freely then, but they were lighter than before. Later, she met Eli’s young son, Noah, who hugged her as if they had always known each other.
