Donald Trump Teases Early Retirement As He Floats Idea Of Swapping Presidency For Full Time Hosting Gig

The entrepreneurial reality series ran from 2004 until 2015 with Trump at the helm and is widely credited with boosting his star status ahead of the 2016 election. His time on the popular show helped catapult him from a businessman to a household name.

However, during his initial presidential campaign, Trump was let go from The Apprentice after making a series of comments regarding Mexican immigrants that did not align with network NBC’s views.

His role as host of Tuesday night’s honors has also proven to be a polarizing subject, particularly because the event is being held at the newly renamed Trump-Kennedy Center—a change that relatives of the late John F. Kennedy have strongly opposed.
