She froze.
Her face flushed red, and she almost fell trying to stand up too fast.
Oh my God. I’m sorry. I didn’t know anyone was here.
I’ll go.”
“Wait,” I said, louder than I meant to. “Please. Don’t go.”
She looked at me like she didn’t deserve to be seen.
“What are you doing here?” I asked softly.
“Why are you… here?”
She avoided my eyes. Stared at the pavement between us like it held answers.
“I shouldn’t have let you see this,” she said.
