“Hey,” I said. “I brought upgrades.”
I spread the blanket over his knees, set down the bag, and handed him the thermos.
At first I thought it was the cold.
Then he looked up at me, and I saw it: fear.
Real fear.
“Thank you,” he said hoarsely. “Claire.”
My stomach dropped.
“I never told you my name,” I said.
“How do you know who I am?”
He swallowed.
The back of my neck went cold.
“What?”
“Stay with your sister,” he said. “Or a friend.
