I collapsed to my knees during an asthma attack, fighting for air while my younger sister held my inhaler just out of reach. She smirked and said, “Gasp, loser.” My parents stood by and did nothing. Today, in court, when the judge said, “Before we begin, let’s watch a family video,” she started shaking—and then screaming.

Camille collapsed back into her chair, sobbing openly now. Diane tried to touch her arm, but Camille tore away from her like the contact burned.

My father, Richard Brooks, stared at the floor—his face heavy with decades of silence he could never undo.

The judge exhaled.

“In light of the video, the emails, and Ms. Brooks’ testimony, this court finds that the plaintiff’s claims lack credibility. The case is dismissed. Court costs will be assigned to the plaintiff. Furthermore, the evidence will be forwarded to civil court for evaluation of potential long-term psychological harm and manipulation.”

The gavel struck.

Camille’s sobbing echoed through the chamber.
