I walked away thinking, “Okay.
The next morning, I was dragging myself back home again.
Snow was dusting the sidewalks like powdered sugar. I passed the same metro entrance without expecting to see anything.
But something was off.
I barely glanced at it… until the back door opened.
And there she was.
Only this wasn’t the frail old woman from yesterday.
This version? She looked like money.
She was sitting upright now. Her coat looked warm and expensive.
She waved like we were old friends. “Sweetheart,” she called out.
“Come here.”
I stared, stunned. “You’re okay?”
