I rarely spent money on myself, so when I finally reached a point where I could afford something meaningful—a brand-new car—it felt like a personal milestone. It wasn’t flashy, but it represented years of effort, discipline, and sacrifice. For me, that car symbolized independence and pride, a reminder that perseverance pays off.

My younger sister, Melissa, had always lived very differently. We were raised in the same home, yet expectations seemed uneven. Where I was encouraged to be self-sufficient, she was often rescued from consequences. Over time, that dynamic shaped our relationship.
