And then everything shattered.
As I rounded the corner near the waiting area, I saw Gregory standing by the windows. My Gregory. But he wasn’t alone.
Not a polite hug. Not an awkward greeting. His arm was wrapped around her shoulders, his hand resting protectively against her back, his face tilted toward hers with an expression I knew far too well—soft, focused, deeply caring.
