😵😵 My daughter refused to put on the luxurious watch her mother-in-law gave her and only whispered: “You’ll understand if you put it on yourself.” When I checked the gift, I immediately called the police.
My daughter Emma had just turned sixteen, and the mother-in-law arrived last: flawless, confident, holding a small velvet box in her hands.
— Put it on, she insisted.
Emma thanked her, but never tried the watch on. In the evening, when the guests had left, I saw the box untouched on her desk.
