My daughter refused to put on the luxurious watch her mother-in-law gave her and only whispered: “You’ll understand if you put it on yourself.”

I was told that such devices are used for illegal surveillance — they are hidden inside expensive accessories so the victim wears them voluntarily. The source of the gift became obvious.

In the morning, I spoke with Emma. She admitted that the watch “moved” on her wrist and became warm, and that her grandmother was far too insistent that she wear it. Emma was frightened — and rightly so.

When the mother-in-law came with “apologies,” she was already being waited for. She didn’t argue. She only said coldly that she “wanted to know where we went.”

I understood the most important thing: sometimes the most expensive gift turns out to be the most dangerous. And you should trust those who refuse to accept it in time.
