Her voice was careful. Nervous.

Everything around me went silent.

The pool. The kids laughing. The sound of the waves in the distance.

All of it disappeared.

“What?”

“Go home. Now. Don’t tell him you’re coming.

He didn’t fake that cast just to stay in bed. And what he’s hiding will shock you.”
