I thought I’d heard him wrong.
“We have a good life, I know, it’s just… it feels wrong. Like this isn’t who I really am, or the life I’m meant to lead.”
“I don’t understand. I thought we were happy… Caleb, we’ve been married for four years.”
“I know.”
“We bought a house.”
“Then what the heck are you talking about?”
“It’s like I’m wearing a shirt two sizes too small.” He shrugged.
“Don’t worry — I haven’t cheated on you,” he added, like that was supposed to make this better.
He didn’t have an answer.
The divorce followed quietly.
