“I already have full custody. You signed the papers. You walked away!”
She shrugged, casual, like this was a friendly disagreement. “Calm down, we’re just talking.
My stomach turned.
“I could start showing up,” she said, checking her nails. “Take parenting classes. Show the court I’ve grown.
Suddenly, it’s 50-50.”
I stood there trying to rein in my anger.
“And you’d only do it to make my life harder,” I said calmly. “You know that.”
I clenched my jaw, my anger threatening to seep out. “You wouldn’t.”
She smiled.
“You don’t know me anymore.”
I then asked her what she wanted.
She tilted her head. “Here’s the deal. If you want things to stay the way they are, you agree to my condition.”
“What condition?”
“I move back in.
