Why Saying “Yes” Can Be Dangerous
There’s a well-known scam called the “Yes Trap.” It works like this:
- A caller asks a simple question
- You answer “yes”
- They record your response
- That recording is later used as “proof” that you agreed to a purchase, contract, or authorization
This is why it’s risky to give direct verbal confirmations to unknown callers.
Even “Hello” Can Put You at Risk
Many robocalls aren’t trying to talk to you at all.
They’re simply checking:
- Is this number active?
- Is there a real person?
- Can a voice be recorded?
When you say “hello,” the system gets its answer.
