Something Felt Different During My Mother’s Walks, and the Truth Changed Everything

Whatever the truth was, it had clearly been weighing on her far longer than I realized. What my mother revealed reshaped everything I thought I knew about my family. She confessed that my father, who had passed away years earlier, had once had an affair—long before I was born—and that a child had come from it.
