I was genuinely caught off guard one afternoon when my son opened a bag of sour cream–flavored chips and discovered a small blue disk mixed in with the snacks. At first glance, it looked out of place and unfamiliar, which immediately raised concern. To be safe, I told him not to eat the chips until we understood what the object was.
