🛂What happens during the SSSS check?

If your boarding pass says “SSSS”, you can expect the following:

Additional scanning or smear

TSA officers will examine your hands, luggage, and, if necessary, your clothing for traces of explosives.

They may be searched more thoroughly than usual.

Baggage check

Your hand luggage will be checked manually – even if it has gone through the X-ray machine.

You may be asked to open compartments or remove electronic devices.
