These spots appear particularly when the production of melanin (the skin’s natural pigment) becomes irregular. The sun stimulates melanin production, but over time it accumulates in certain areas, forming these flat, brown spots of varying widths. We often see them on our hands because we forget to protect these areas, even though they are exposed daily.
Natural aging also plays a role. The skin becomes thinner, more fragile, and regenerates less effectively. While this isn’t dangerous in itself, if a spot changes (shape, color, texture), it’s best to have it checked.
